> Getting Started
A large majority of Formula Mazda racing is done at SCCA sactioned club events. To participate in
SCCA Formula Mazda racing, you will need to become a member of SCCA and earn at least a Regional License.
To earn a Regional License, you must attend two (2) SCCA sponsored racing schools. SCCA offers schools
a couple of times a year. For information on SCCA sponsored schools, go to
www.scca.org. Or, you can participate in one of the
SCCA accredited professional racing schools listed below. Some of the SCCA accredited schools listed
below have been authorized by SCCA to issue SCCA Regional licenses after completing a 3-Day School successfully.
All of the professional racing schools above furnish you with a car and gear. The SCCA sponsored
schools do not furnish you with a car and gear. You must use your own or rent a car from a race team
(such as Texas Autosports).
Once you get an SCCA Regional license, you qualify to race in all SCCA Regional races, as well as
COMMA and NASA events. In order to participate in an SCCA National race, you must first
race a certain quota of Regional races before a National license will be issued.
Licensing information for the Star Mazda North American Championship (sanctioned by IMSA) can be found
at www.starmazda.com.
